What inspired you to pursue a career in aquaculture?
The thing that motivated me was my deep love for the sea

What is your current role, and what does a typical day look like for you?
Academics. My day is mostly spent in the faculty and the laboratory. I spend half of the day in the lab, analyzing fish health and studying parasites. The rest of my time is dedicated to teaching and academic activities, including lectures, mentoring students, and working on research projects.
What has been your proudest achievement in aquaculture so far?
The most recent award I received is a prestigious science award in recognition of my contributions to fish welfare, fish health, and aquaculture research by Turkish Chamber of Agriculture Engineers.
What advice would you give to young women considering a career in aquaculture?
For young women interested in aquaculture, I recommend being curious, persistent, and passionate about science. Aquaculture is a growing field with many opportunities in research, sustainability, and innovation. Gaining hands-on experience in laboratories and fish farms, participating in international projects, and building a strong network with experts can be very beneficial. Most importantly, believe in yourself and your ability to contribute to the future of sustainable aquaculture
